Scholarship Requirements for Women in Aviation

Undergraduate applicants must be either Juniors or Seniors enrolled in a college program leading to a career as a professional pilot. They must have and maintain a GPA of at least 3.25. Graduate applicants must be currently enrolled in a graduate program leading to a career as a professional pilot. They too, must have and maintain a GPA of at least 3.25.

Mechanics applying for a scholarship must be enrolled in a program leading to a certification as an aircraft and / or helicopter mechanic.

Helicopter Pilots applying must be enrolled in a commercial pilot program, hold a private pilots license and have passed the required medical tests.

Additional Requirements for Aviation

A transcript (if applicable), essays, and five letters of recommendation are required. Three of the letters of recommendation need to be from professional contacts and the remaining two from unrelated personal friends. Copies of licenses or certificates currently held (i.e. a pilot’s license, etc.) should also be provided along with a signed scholarship agreement.

Scholarship Requirements for Women in Maritime or Transportation Careers

Undergraduate applicants must be either Juniors or Seniors enrolled in a Maritime Academy actively participating in a program leading to a career at sea. They must have and maintain a GPA of at least 3.25. Graduate applicants must be currently enrolled in a graduate program in the field of navigation, bridge officer, or naval engineering leading to a career at sea. They too, must have and maintain a GPA of at least 3.25.

Merchant Mariner applicants must be enrolled in a maritime school for a Merchant Marine License or Merchant Mariner Document.

Additional Requirements for Maritime / Merchant Mariner

Proof of USCG accepted qualifying sea service and (if applicable) Essays. Five letters of recommendation are required. Copies of licenses or certificates currently held (i.e. a maritime document, etc.) should also be provided along with a signed scholarship agreement.
